Wisdom Comes from the Strangest Places!

Have you ever been in an unremarkable place or situation and had a remarkable thing happen? This past weekend, I was in NJ for a conference. The day before the conference, it was pouring rain and not much to do in Fairview, NJ…so I decided to go get a massage.

I had never been to Massage Envy – a national chain for massage therapy – and was in their lobby waiting for my appointment. I decided to pick up their “Meet our Therapists” binder on the table where, I suppose to make you more comfortable about getting touched by a complete stranger, they had a profile on each therapist.

Besides their name, hometown, years in the business, and massage school graduated from…they had the favorite quote of each therapist. It was there, in this binder, in this lobby, in this chain, in this town that I came across this wisdom…

“If someone wants to be wise, let him observe;to be strong, let him work;to be happy, let him give;to be influential, let him serve and sacrifice.”

It reminds me of a quote from the movie Evan Almighty…”when you ask God for patience, does he just give you patience or does he give you the circumstances that will allow you to cultivate patience?”

Whatever you’re asking for, look again to see if it’s available to you in a different way than what you might be expecting.

Visualization Doesn’t Work!

I’ve finally figured out why visualization doesn’t work for most people. It’s not that visualization is hard – we visualize all the time. Sometimes good things – sometimes not so good. But even when we are imagining something really great – rarely do we get to a place of “feeling” what we are thinking about.

I realized this the other day when someone guided me through a visualization. They asked me to think of a beautiful place. They asked me to imagine the sights (looking off the balcony of my dream house on the water), the smells (crisp autumn leaves and coffee!), the feeling under my hands (a soft blanket wrapped around me).

By time the visualization was done – I had tears in my eyes! I felt so alive, so energized and empowered.

Then I realized, less than 10% of the time do I actually get emotional about my visualizations. And while I may not understand the quantum physics behind the law of attraction (vibrations matching and all that), I cannot argue with the fact that the simple 5-minute visualization kept me in ACTION the rest of the day.

That is perhaps the key to attrACTION after all.

How many of you are feeling affected by the economy?

I’m curious. How many of you are feeling affected by the economy right now?

Are you worried about your business? Are you looking for more income streams? Do you want to start a business but are afraid this isn’t the right time? Or are you doing great right now?

For myself, I’m always interested in looking for more ways to take charge of my OWN life and my OWN business. That’s why I was intrigued by Ali Brown’s new free teleclass on Thursday, March 5, called “How to Create Your OWN Strong Economy This Year…With Online Information Marketing.”

Here’s the link to sign up:

And don’t forget to share your thoughts and questions. I’d love to know what you really think about your business and the economy right now.

Wanna see something cool?

If you know about the power of affirmations and visualization – you’re going to love this. It’s a Mind Motion Picture I created for myself. I have a vision board – but I find I don’t look at it as much as I should. And I have affirmations posted all over the house – but after awhile – I don’t see them anymore.

So now, I have an audio-visual, interactive presentation of everything I want in life. It’s like my life’s coming attractions! I watch it every morning and every night before I go to bed. It certainly sets the tone for the day – and it’s a great way to stay inspired.

Welcome Baby Kai

My great-nephew was born on 12/31 (just in time for the tax deduction) and he is healthy and beautiful. Mika, his older sister, isn’t quite sure what to make of him although she calls him “My baby Kai.” At this point, everything is hers. I’m now called “My Nancy”. Here are pictures of the newest “most beautiful baby in the world.”

Goodbye to 2008!

It’s really true that the older you get, the faster time goes. Proof of that is how quickly a year passes. It seems like yesterday I was getting ready to ring in 2008 – now I’m saying goodbye to it. But one great way to review the year and remember exactly how much I did do, is to look through my pictures. So I thought I would share a few of my favorites with you!

Key West in December – AAAHHHHHHHHH!

I was just in Key West for a week with my sister – and mid week my boyfriend joined us (does anyone have a better word than boyfriend for a 30+ woman?). Anyway, while we were down there, the northeast got pounded with snow. Every night we watched the weather channel with what can only be described as glee. Why is that? I suppose were just happy to have escaped this one storm knowing we’d be dealing with it the rest of the winter. Anyway, here are some of my favorite pics from the trip.

These pictures are from a snorkeling trip my sister and I took out to a reef about 7 miles from Key West.

Here we are enjoying the 75 degree weather. Every evening around dusk, everyone heads out to the beach, pier, docks – wherever they can to catch the sunset.

My sister had a bit too much to drink at B.O.’s Fish Wagon – but found a friend!

The Most Beautiful Toddler turns Two!!!

Here is my great-niece Mika. She just turned two in October. She is the smartest, cutest, most independent little girl. She refuses to get in her carseat most of the time because her older brother Ben doesn’t have to. At the playground, she insists on going on the regular swings (not the ones that have the enclosed seats that would keep her safe) and climbing up the big ladder to go down the big slide. Can you say willful?
But I have to admit – I love seeing her feisty spirit. It reminds me of someone else I know. 😉
